Robert P. Magee

Mr. Magee serves as Chairman, President, and CEO of American Shipping Group, Inc. American Shipping Group is a holding company that comprises the blue water domestic and military support shipping businesses of SaltChuk Resources. These businesses consist of:

Totem Ocean Trailer Express, Inc. - TOTE owns five ships and nearly 2,000 trailers. Two of its ships entered Alaska service in 2003, and three of the Company's vessels are on charter. TOTE is in the liner, common carrier business connecting Tacoma, Washington with Anchorage, Alaska. Bob is Chairman and CEO of Totem Ocean Trailer Express, Inc.

Interocean Ugland Management is a technical ship management and ship crewing company. IUM today manages and operates twenty-one vessels.

Sea Star Lines LLC is a common carrier operating between Florida and Puerto Rico. Sea Star Lines operates two combo vessels. This is a partnership with Matson Navigation and Taino Star Investments.

Mr. Magee is a board member of Cruise West, a shipping firm not associated with SaltChuk. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, is on the Board of the Independent Colleges of Washington, and is the United Way of Pierce County 2004 Campaign Chair.

Mr. Magee joined TOTE in May 1986 as Vice President of Marine Operations. His association with the company, however, dates back to TOTE's start-up in 1975 when it was a subsidiary of the Philadelphia-based Sun Company.

Prior to TOTE, he was with Puerto Rico Marine Management, Inc., as Senior Vice President of Vessel Operations, 1981-85. Before that he was a manager at Sun Shipbuilding in Pennsylvania and served as a deck officer in the Merchant Marine for four years.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Magee has a B.S. degree in Marine Transportation from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy; Kings Point, New York, and an MBA in Finance from Widener University, Chester, Pennsylvania. He studied Advanced Management at Harvard University.

Bill Deaver

President/Chief Operating Officer

Bill Deaver

Bill Deaver is President and Chief Operating Officer of Totem Ocean Trailer Express, Inc. In addition to being responsible for management of TOTE's business operations, he has overseen, the successful integration of the company's new vessels into the Alaska trade and redevelopment of TOTE's terminals in Anchorage, Alaska and Tacoma, Washington. He also oversees the charter operations of TOTE's three Ponce class vessels.

Bill joined TOTE in March 2000 as Alaska General Manger and was promoted to Vice President and Alaska General Manager in April 2001. He was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in July 2002, and the title of President was added in April 2004.

During his 32-year ocean cargo transportation career, Bill has held numerous management positions with Maersk -Sea-Land and Sea-Land Service. He has held positions in California, Korea, Republic of China, the Philippines, Canada, Hong Kong, Alaska, Ireland, and Georgia. Bill is currently on the King and Pierce County Big Brothers/Big Sisters Board, the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center Board, and has been active on the Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce Total Resource Campaign. Previously Bill was on the AEDC, ALPAR, Sealife Center, Alaska Trucking Association, World Trade Center, Alaskans for Alaskans in Transportation, Arctic North, and Covenant House Boards in Anchorage, Alaska.

Bill has a BS degree in Business Finance from the University of Oklahoma, and has completed MBA studies at the University of California, San Francisco. Bill and his wife, Valerie, live in Auburn, Washington, and they have four grown children.

Hugh L. Simpson

Chief Financial Officer

Hugh L. Simpson

Hugh L. Simpson joined TOTE in September 2006 as Chief Financial Officer. Hugh is responsible for corporate accounting, financial services, credit and collections and organization-wide quality programs. Hugh comes to TOTE from Sound Transit in Seattle where he was the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for seven years. He played an integral role in financing and implementing the construction of a $2.4 billion light rail transportation segment in the Puget Sound area.

Prior to Sound Transit, Hugh worked for worked for a local municipality, an international distribution company based out of Japan and a medical device manufacturing company located in Texas.

Hugh graduated from the University of Idaho with a B.S. degree in Accounting and is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. He and his wife Denise have been married for twenty-one years and live in Kent, Washington with their three sons.

John Parrott

Vice President Sales and Pricing

John Parrott

John Parrott is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for TOTE. John is responsible for commercial operations, the management of the sales force in both Alaska and the Lower 48, and the Marketing and Pricing departments. In addition, John will continue his responsibly for TOTE’s Alaska policy issues.

John joined TOTE in June 2002 as the Alaska General Manager and was promoted to Alaska Vice President in April 2003. Prior to TOTE, he was the General Manager for Sea Star Stevedore which manages the loading, discharge and terminal operations for TOTE. In 1996 he joined Sea-Land as a Marine Superintendent. John is a licensed Master in the Merchant Marines, having sailed for ten years aboard a wide range of vessel types and trade routes including working for TOTE as Chief Mate of the SS Northern Lights in 1992. He was present throughout the conversion of that vessel including the addition of a 90' mid-body section.

John is on the boards of Marine Exchange, AEDC, and Providence Hospital Foundation and has taken a keen interest in Alaska’s work force development in the maritime industry.

Born in Seattle, Mr. Parrott has a BS degree in Marine Transportation from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York, and an MBA in Finance from Seattle University. He holds a commission in the United States Navy Reserve. John Lives with his Wife Lynne and three small children in Tacoma, WA.

Peter Lindsey

Vice President, Customer Support Operations

Peter Lindsey

Peter Lindsey joined TOTE in July 2006, as Vice President of Customer Support Operations. Peter is responsible for Alaska Operations, Alaska Finance, Corporate Fleet Management, Fife Maintenance, Federal Way Customer Support Operations, and the ISO quality program. Peter comes to TOTE from Expeditors International where he was Director of ECMS/Order Management, a proprietary logistics service product. Peter graduated from Kings Point with a B.S. in Marine Transportation and has an MBA from Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA. During his 18 years of transportation experience, he has sailed on cargo ships, including tankers to Alaska, worked in vessel management and stevedoring operations, and most recently in supply chain logistics sales and marketing.

Peter and wife, Marianne, have been married for 15 years and live on Bainbridge Island, with their two sons. During his career, Peter and his family have lived in several places, including Asia.

Claudia Roberts

Vice President, New Business

Claudia Roberts

Claudia Roberts is the Vice President of New Business Development for Totem Ocean Trailer Express. Prior to this capacity, she was Vice President of Pricing. She has been employed at TOTE for over 20 years, and earned her MBA from the University of Washington in 1999.

Claudia is responsible for the ongoing employment of the two Ponce class vessels, the Westward Venture and the Great Land. Her division also oversees the VISA agreement with the government, and chartering activities with the government and commercial parties. Additionally, she evaluates proposals for potential vessel employment.

Phil Morrell

Vice President, Marine Operations

Phil Morrell

Phil Morrell is the Vice President Marine Operations for Totem Ocean Trailer Express. Phil oversees all segments of TOTE's Marine Operations.

Phil has over 22 years experience in the shipping/transportation industry. Before TOTE, he was employed by Todd Pacific Shipyards, Sunmar Shipping, and Holland American Line Westours, Inc., where he held the position of Marine Superintendent, Technical Operations Manager.

Phil earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Oregon.

Bonnie Sellen

Director of Human Resources

Bonnie Sellen

Bonnie Sellen is the Director of Human Resources for Totem Ocean Trailer Express, located in the corporate office in Federal Way, Washington. Bonnie is responsible for all human resources functions including recruitment, training, development, succession planning, the human resources management system, compliance programs, compensation, benefits, employee recognition programs, social events, community affairs, and public relations.

Bonnie has an MBA from the University of Washington with an emphasis on Human Resources, Marketing, and Finance. She also has a BA in Social Sciences/Psychology from Seattle Pacific University. She is married to John Sellen, and they have three grown children. She serves on the boards of numerous professional and civic organizations, including Washington Drug Free Business Org; American Society of Training and Development; the Side by Side Program; and The Children's Project.
